Something Is Coming — But First, Let Me Tell You Where I’ve Been

By Melissa Oliver | Be You and Bloom Collective | July 2026

One hundred days.

That’s how long it has been since I walked out of corporate America — with gratitude in my heart, clarity in my spirit, and more questions than answers about what came next.

One hundred days of quiet.

One hundred days of becoming.

One hundred days of finally choosing me.

I want to tell you about those days. And I want to tell you about something that has been living in my heart for several years now and is finally coming to light.

The woman who had to lead herself first

I spent more than two decades in corporate leadership. I led teams. I led initiatives. I sat in rooms where hard decisions were made, and I helped make them. I was good at leading other people.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped leading myself.

I stopped listening to the voice inside me that knew — long before I was ready to admit it — that something needed to change. I kept delivering. I kept showing up. I kept pouring into work, into roles, into spaces that were slowly, quietly moving in a direction that no longer aligned with who I was becoming.

And I was tired. Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes. The kind of tired that lives in your bones when you’ve been someone other than yourself for too long.

Here is what I know now that I wish I had known sooner:

You have to lead yourself first. You have to show up authentically and unapologectically.

That truth is what began to shift everything for me. Not a strategy. Not a plan. A decision — to turn inward before I turned anywhere else.

The healing that had to come first

Before I could help anyone else navigate a hard season, I had to sit in my own.

I had to be honest about what I was carrying. The weight of expectations that were never mine to hold. The exhaustion of being everything to everyone and somehow still feeling like not enough. The grief of a version of myself I had quietly set aside because there was always something more urgent, someone more in need, somewhere else I was supposed to be.

I had to heal myself before I could help heal anything else.

For a woman who has spent her life in service of others: in the home, in the 9-5 grind, in the community, choosing to heal yourself first can feel almost selfish. I am here to tell you it is the most generous thing you will ever do.

Because the woman on the other side of that healing?

She has so much more to give.

This healing didn’t happen in one hundred days. It has been about twenty-five years in the making — quietly unfolding alongside the same twenty-five years I spent building a career in corporate America. Two journeys, side by side. One building a life on paper. The other rebuilding the woman underneath it.

What has been on my heart for years

For a long time, I have known that I was meant to do this work.

Not corporate work — though that work shaped me in ways I will always be grateful for. This work. The work of sitting with women in their hardest seasons and helping them find their way through. The work of coaching, of holding space, of reminding a woman who has forgotten her own strength exactly who she is and what she is capable of.

I have been coaching most of my life — formally and informally, in hallways and conference rooms and phone calls that ran long because someone needed to be heard. Last year, I made it official after earning dual life coaching certifications, along with the hard-earned lived experience that comes with time and experience and lots of learned lessons.

This year, I gave it a name, I gave it a logo, and I gave it a meaning that could only come from being still, listening to myself, and aligning with my calling.

Be You and Bloom Collective.

It was born in one of my most buried seasons — buried in responsibility, buried in other people’s needs, buried in silence. And it bloomed anyway. Because that is what we do. We bloom anyway.

The calling I could no longer ignore

In 2025, after a I month spiritual intensive, I had a spiritual awakening that changed everything.

It wasn’t one dramatic moment. It was a series of quiet, undeniable nudges — the kind you can only ignore for so long before they become impossible to outrun. God was calling me into something new, and for the first time in a long time, I said yes without hesitation.

This blog. This community. This work. It is my way of honoring that calling — of stepping fully into what He has been preparing me for all along, through every season, every hard year, every quiet act of healing that came before this moment.

What’s coming

In August, I am turning forty-eight. And I am doing something I have never done before — launching something that is entirely, unapologetically mine.

I will be sharing the full story — the corporate years, the hard seasons, the spiritual journey, the one hundred days, and the calling that refused to stay quiet any longer. I will lean into all of it — the soft and the strong, the healing and the leadership, the woman I was and the woman I am becoming.

Be You and Bloom Collective is all about It is the whole story. Not just the highlight reel.

If you are a woman in transition whether it is professionally, personally, or spiritually, this space is being built for you.

Stay close. Something beautiful is coming.
